i only miss you

by brendan philip mccusker

verse

i’m a logical guy

i know nothing lasts forever

and this isn’t how it’s always gonna be

i just wish i could fly

so i could travel to wherever

and be waiting out the storm just you and me

pre

i’m roaming through the spring without a sun

in an old ghost town where everyone feigns self-critical

i wish i never sounded overdone

but when i wrote this down i knew you’d say “sounds typical”

chorus

i only miss you every night and every day

like the heat of the summer on a three dog night

with an ice storm on the way

i only miss you when i’m sleeping or awake

like the beat of a drummer in a b-boy battle

when the boombox skips away

verse

i’ve been wondering why

we don’t get on like we used to

when we didn’t know where to stop

in the blink of an eye

we could work though any issue

and just talk all night till the hands fell of the clock

pre

is this the place you thought that you would be

when time slows down and everyone prays for a miracle

now all that we can do is wait and see

though i still found this solitude somewhat meaningful
